Future of Design

Exterior:

I believe we will start seeing more and more homes that will be built small, but tall. The more we develop on the surface, the more conscious of space saving buildings we'll see. Also, I expect we'll see many more solar panels and alternative energy technology being implemented into our buildings.

I think we'll see many more homes that have sleek and very minimalistic interiors. Also the technology inside of our homes will become much more important. Touch screens and holographic/VR type implementations in the home will make daily tasks easier.

Fashion:

In the future of fashion, we'll see lots of different fabrics and technology coupled together. We'll start seeing touchscreens embedded into jackets and accessories linked to your phone. Fashion designers will keep pushing the boundaries of different materials used in new ways.

Graphic Design:

In the future of Graphic Design we'll start seeing a huge push in thoughtful design. Technology will only grow and within that technology we see a push for new innovative products to be accessible to the general public. We need the people to grow with the technology and be able to utilize the products in a natural and intuitive way that is familiar to the people.

In the future the world is looking for sustainable energy and food. I believe hydroponic farming will start to replace standard farming practices. It's efficiency and ability to cut costs of farming will outweigh the traditional farming techniques. We'll also start to see products that are environmentally considerate.

Gnomon International Design

In the heart of Hollywood, Gnomon has renovated its space to reflect International Design. It has a strong and powerful exterior with a raised building to differentiate administrative offices, student services and administrative parking which is located below the building. The right larger building houses the educational facilities. The school houses 2 lab areas; a 24 hour lab and a lab which is open during school hours. The school, maintaining their standard of excellence also includes a small cafe and cafeteria for students and administration, a large auditorium for events as well as classrooms which are equipped with professional industry workstations with access to render farms. The educational building also includes a storage facility for students a library and student store. The Gnomon campus also prides itself on being handicap accessible and has mental and physical health services for students.

This particular floor houses the 24 hour lab. It is equipped with a small kitchen area, bathrooms, a break room, a small sleeping area, the main lab floor and small conference rooms. The kitchen is stocked with utensils, a small eating area, a fridge, coffee machines, and toaster oven and microwave. The break room includes a few couches with a wide screen TV, a video library, game consoles, arcade games, and a sitting area with tables. Next to the break room is the sleeping area. This sleeping area has bunk beds where students can take small naps (it is stressed that students are required to maintain healthy hygiene and that this does not serve as your apartment living area). Fresh sheets are kept in a cabinet and a dirty laundry bin is next to the cabinet. Students are expected to remove their used sheets and put them in the laundry bin. the wide lab area has work stations and small pull out tables on each station for extra surface area. The conference rooms in the center of the lab allow students to either work on traditional medias or work in groups.

The style of the lab area features a bright and open feel. Large windows allow ample natural lighting which can also be shaded if necessary. Each station also comes equipped with anti-glare monitors.
